Soprano Vera-Lotte Boecker is among the most versatile singing actors of her generation. Opernwelt named her Singer of the Year in 2022, and in 2023 she received the German Theatre Prize DER FAUST for musical theatre performance.
For 2026/27 she is Artist in Residence at Konzerthaus Berlin across ten evenings with the Konzerthausorchester, the chamber orchestra and in recital. On stage she sings the title role in Cavalli's La Calisto directed by Stefan Herheim under Christina Pluhar, first at Theater an der Wien and in November at the Barocktage of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. She returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper as Mary Stuart in Brett Dean's Of One Blood and as Donna Anna. In March 2027 she debuts as Leonore in Beethoven's Fidelio at the Baden-Baden Easter Festival under Joana Mallwitz, directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski.
Recent role debuts include the title role in Janáček's Cunning Little Vixen under Sir Simon Rattle at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the title role in Schumann's Das Paradies und die Peri opening the Staatsoper Hamburg season, and Donna Anna in Munich. Earlier she sang the title roles in Strauss's Daphne staged by Romeo Castellucci and in Berg's Lulu, Dorotka in Tobias Kratzer's Schwanda der Dudelsackpfeifer, and Nadja in the world premiere of Georg Friedrich Haas's Bluthaus.
In concert she has recently performed Schoenberg's Gurre-Lieder, Brahms's German Requiem, Mahler's Second and Fourth Symphonies, Beethoven's Ninth and Zemlinsky's Lyric Symphony with orchestras including the Wiener Symphoniker, the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin.
Born in Brühl near Cologne, she studied philosophy and literature at Humboldt University Berlin alongside voice at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, the Operaakademiet of the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen and the Universität der Künste Berlin with Beatrice Niehoff. She was an ensemble member at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Komische Oper Berlin and, from 2020 to 2022, the Wiener Staatsoper. She lives in Berlin.
